How to change your Snapchat username to awesome display name

In case you’re seeking to change your snapchat usernames with an existing account, brace your self: You actually can’t change your Snapchat username without removing your account.

Regardless, you can still change your Snapchat display name, which is the name that shows up just under your profile picture, or bitmoji, next to your Snapchat score.

Here’s what you’ll know to change your Snapchat display name through the mobile phone application on your iPhone or Android.

01 Go to Your snapchat username Settings

Open Snapchat and tap your profile/Bitmoji icon in the top left corner of the screen to see your profile.

Click into the gear icon in the top right corner to visit your settings.

The first two account settings you’ll view will be name followed by Username. Realize that if you tap your Username, you won’t have the ability to a single thing with it except sharing it using the various app.

  1. Tap Name.
  2. On the following tab, add or edit your current First Name area and Last Name field. If you would like, you can keep the Last Name field empty.
  3. Tap the Save button, which shows up when you’ve created your changes.

03 Take a look at Your Account to view your Completely new Display Name

If you have something stored in the Name fields as shown in the last step, it will show up in all your friends’ chats as well as stories instead of your Username.

The only time a friend might view your Username happens when they start a chat with you and tap the hamburger icon in the top left corner
to pull up a small review of your profile (which usually shows your snapcode, name, Username, snap score, and chat emojis) or even when they tap on the Display Name when they search friends.

After you’ve saved your Display Name, you can use the back arrows from the top left from the screen to be able to navigate straight back to your user profile as well as see that your new name shows up below your snapcode (above your Username and snap score).

04 Get ready to Manually Put All Of Your Friends to a Completely new Account

Even though the Display Name does a great job at always keeping your Username invisible in most cases,

it’s easy to understand if your existing Username doesn’t work anymore and desperately should be changed — even though, which means creating an entirely new account.

The trouble with making an entirely new account is basically that you want to be able to move over your current data from the old account. For example, your current snapcode, your snap score, your snap streaks, your best friends, your chats, any trophies you gained, and all of the friends that you added/added you.

In case you’re ready to give all this up and manually add friends with your completely new account, then only it might be truly worth trying this second workaround. In the end, creating a new account doesn’t mean you have to remove your old one after that.

To put all your friends over to your new account, you’ll need their usernames, which means you’ll need to look at every one of your friends’ usernames one by one. The trouble is always that with the most recent update to the app, there will no longer appear to be a dedicated place where you could see all of the friends you’ve already added.

There’s still a technique to see a list of all of your friends’ Display Names, so you don’t forget anyone; even so, that could be a pretty time-consuming job to lookup each friend’s Username and put them to your new account. In case you’re game, here’s how to do the idea:

Navigate to your conversations tab and tap the New Chat button marked by the speech bubble along with the plus sign icon.

Scroll down previous Close Friends, Recents, and also Groups to view a list within your friends in alphabetical order.

Either note down each name separately or take several screenshots while you scroll your way down the list.

Tap the X in the top right corner to stop the New Chat.

Click on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen.

Look for your first friend on the list that should pop-up automatically near to the top since they’re already a friend.

Find Snapchat username Then Search for the Username, which seems under their Display Name, and write it down.

Repeat from steps seven, all remaining friends’ Display Names.

Tap the X in the top right corner to exit Search, tap your profile/Bitmoji icon, and after that, tap the gear icon in the top right corner.

Scroll down, tap Sign Out, and confirm that you need to log out from your account.

05 Make a New Account and Add Your Friends

After signing out, you can tap the blue Sign Up button to create a new account with the new Username.

After you’ve completed the account set-up process for the new account, you can click on the magnifying glass icon to look for your friends’ usernames.

Take your list of friends’ usernames, which you created in step 4, and manually search for each one. Tap + Add to add them.

However, if you know that many of your friends have already been in your device’s contact list,
you can sync your contacts to your account to put all of them in bulk and also speed up the procedure.

Navigate directly back to your conversations tab, tap the person with a plus sign icon in the top right corner, and after that tap Add Contacts at the top.

In the following tab, refer to the instructions to allow Snapchat to connect to your device’s contacts, so any contacts with Snapchat are going to be automatically added into your friend list.
